Solid Wood Platform Beds

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Like today world of finance, the furniture industry is full of easy come easy go products. What I mean is that a majority of the furniture that’s readily available is both cheap to by and cheap to make. Cheap modern bedroom furniture is commonly made of particle board and cheap veneers that can pull off within just a few years! So beware the purchase you make today might just be in the trash tomorrow.

For 100’s of years furniture was made from solid wood. To this day you can find and endless supply of antiques that are far sturdier than brand new furniture items you might find at IKEA or Pottery Barn. What’s the secret? Solid wood! Actually there’s more but quality furniture begins with quality materials such as solid kiln dried teak, mahogany, acacia and mangium. These are among the strongest timbers on the planet and make for very fine furniture. At Platformbedsonline.com we carry more solid wood platform beds than anyone else. In fact nearly all the modern bedroom furniture we sell is made of solid wood! All in all whether you purchase a solid wood platform bed from us or one of our modern platform bed made from a combination of solid wood and veneers, from us your guaranteed a top quality bed that will last for years.

Another important feature in platform bed construction is how the joints are attached. Cheap beds use screws and even nails to build their beds which simply will not due. The preferred method is build a bed with advanced carpentry technique such as mortise and tenon so the bed literally links together with little need for glues or screws. Take our Kondo Japanese platform bed for example. This solid wood Asian platform bed requires on four larg bolts in each corner to fasten the bed together because the side rails link in to the headboard and footboard like Legos. You won’t find a sturdier bed anywhere than the solid teak Kondo Japanese platform bed.
